One of the most rewarding experiences at the Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo, and one that only exists at a handful of zoos nationwide, is our Safari Boat Ride! Over a period of about 20-30 minutes, our boats glide peacefully through our scenic lagoon, passing several islands, and at times, under a canopy of shade-producing tree branches. The ride itself is quite relaxing, but you will also see a large variety of hoofed animals that cannot be seen any other way other than by boat! Aquatic wildlife is also abundant. Turtles, ducks, geese, and wading birds are a common sight. The ride also passes under train trestles several times, a true adventure, especially if the train is crossing a trestle at the same time!

The Safari Boat Ride is open during the warm months, but is generally not operating during the winter months. Tickets are $5 each per person, children 2 years old and younger ride for free.
